A MOTHER'S LETTER

I'm a mother blessed like no other
You chose me from all others
As I held you in my arms
I promised you protection from all harm

I did my best as I promised I would
Did all the things that a parent should
Little was I prepared that fateful day
When death came calling and took you away

Nothing to stop death from taking you
As parents we never think of losing our child
Taking for granted they're here for all while

I recall my pain as you entered this world
Now I bear the pain as you left our world
A mother's bond to her child is great

Waylon,  My name is Sheri Stratz and I am Aaron Stratz's mom.  I know you know him, and I am sure you two are in a great place and very happy.  Has he drilled you in basketball yet? skateboarding?  soccer?  These are things he loved.  He was a great mentor and loved teaching younger kids, but it's not like he was much older than you.   Tell your mom I thought of her all day on September 9, 2009.  I am so sorry that her worst day of the year is my remaining best day.  My only living son, Benji, after losing two, was born on September 9th. (09/09/1979)  Big year this year for him, he turned 30.  Can you believe that?  I tried a number of times this month to write, but just couldn't.  Tell her I know, tell her I get it, tell her I pray every day we will be fine and that I am positive you and Aaron are.  Be a good boy, tell my son if you see him I love him and let your mom know that things are fine.  Remind her in Matthew 28:20, we are not alone.  "Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
